A Slightly Embarrassing Revelation — and Why We Rather Like It

We recently stumbled upon a curious discovery. Our beloved brand name, Pukka Wonky, while delightfully British to our ears, doesn’t quite translate seamlessly across the map. In Russian, for instance, it can be misread as Puka Wonky (“Пука Вонки” / “Пака Вонки”) — which, phonetically, sounds dangerously close to “Whiffy Wind”.

Naturally, some might consider this a branding catastrophe. A scandal of sorts. But truth be told, we’re rather charmed by it.

We’re fond of our name — it’s got just the right balance of elegance and eccentricity. And if it gives someone a giggle (or a Google hit), all the better. There’s a strange sort of magic in things that aren’t perfectly polished. Like a picture frame that hangs ever so slightly crooked — it catches the eye. It tells a story.

So yes, our name may sound like a digestive emergency in some parts of the world. But we wear it with pride. Because behind that slightly silly sound lies a team that cares deeply about what we create: expressive, considered, and lovingly unusual websites.

Do stop by and see for yourself.
